This weeks exercise was much easier than the previous week. I was able to do this without crying. I think my emotions from the week before played a major role in how I reacted. I felt a little "hormonal". This week I feel better. My dad actually received some great news from his doctor and no longer has to take one shot that I was giving to him (thank God I got my Medical Assisting Degree in order to this for him, hind sight). Now he just gets one shot a week and will go to the doctor at the end of the month. I think I do have a preference when it comes to the voices on the exercises. I like soft, spoken voices, that speak calmly, smoothly and are in lower tones. The higher pitched voices catch my breath when they start speaking again.
These exercises are helping me concentrate better when I pray, and I like that. My mind has always wondered, especially when I start to pray for people I care about and when I am laying in bed.

ReplyDeleteGreat to hear that about your dad, I am sure that helps a bit not having quite so many injections to take. (And as for the Med Assist degree it is funny how things in life play out at times) I do get caught up also with some of the voices on these tracks. I never thought of these exercises as being helpful for focus when in prayer or contemplation. I neglected to realize how these exercises could help in that respect. I think I tend to compartmentalize a bit too much.

ReplyDeleteIt is great to hear that your dad is doing better. This exercise is a good relaxing exercise, after a two hour basketball game with my son, brother and nephews; I was able to listen to the practice and it helped me wine down and blocked thought away that comes my mind that is interfering with what I need to focus on. I was able to let my wife listen to it while she was trying to take a nap, she found it so soothing to a point she wants to listen it before bed and before she heads out to work.

ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear your dad got good news, I know that relieves much tension for the family. It is wonderful that these exercises are helping you to focus more. It is amazing what we can do when we take a few minutes every day for ourselves just to process and take things in.
